Women Entrepreneurs in NYC

By Catherine Zhang, James DiPaolo & Jacqueline Thong

Yesterday, our team attended the 49th Entrepreneurs Roundtable (ER49) event at NYU Stern and the Make Mine a Million (M3) event at Barnard College. These events were focused on empowering women in business and creating strong support networks for entrepreneurial women.

At the Entrepreneurs Roundtable (@eroundtable), guest speaker Jeanne Sullivan (@gianna212), the General Partner at StarVest, gave an engaging discussion about women entrepreneurs in business. Jeanne emphasized the importance for women entrepreneurs to understand financial analysis. It is essential to learn how to forecast, discount, and use various analysis tools because they give women the confidence and knowledge needed to actively engage in conversations and rise up in an organization. Jeanne encouraged women to go after this knowledge with a motivational, “You can learn this.” To learn more about financial analysis, check out this post by Entrepreneur.com for a comprehensive list of important concepts. Also, visit khanAcademy for video tutorials on these subjects, such as Valuation and investing and Venture Capital and Capital Markets.
